How to figure out what size moving truck or trailer you need

People struggle to estimate how much space their belongings will actually take up, leaving them torn between sizes or worried that things won't fit. This uncertainty leads to the anxiety of either not having enough room or having too much empty space where items can shift around during the drive.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Going a size up from what was initially assumed or calculated
  2. 2
Squeezing smaller items into the truck cabin if needed
  3. 3
Stacking boxes and furniture tightly to the ceiling and securing items with straps
