How to get home from late-night work without a car?

Working late or attending after-hours meetings without a car leaves employees stranded because public transit stops running and return trips take hours. This forces people to rely on unpredictable rideshares or scramble to find someone to drive them.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Expensing Uber rides to and from client sites
  2. 2
Buying an inexpensive used car and paying for minimum insurance
  3. 3
Checking company policies for late-working taxi or meal reimbursements
  4. 4
Calling an Uber or Uber Black
  5. 5
Hiring a car service with a luxury vehicle and driver
  6. 6
    Asking a friend to drive
