HVAC condensate pump overflowing onto the floor

An overflowing condensate pump usually means the discharge line is clogged or the internal float switch is stuck, preventing water from pumping outside. This forces the unit to fill up and leak onto the floor, leaving you unsure whether to troubleshoot, clear the blockage, or replace the pump entirely.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Trying to take out and clean the pump
  2. 2
    Flipping the pump switch manually
  3. 3
Running the AC temporarily without the pump
  4. 4
Reaching out to a drain-cleaner or a plumber with a sewer-machine to clear the line
  5. 5
Playing with or manipulating the line to knock the air loose and restart suction
  6. 6
Replacing lines and cleaning out the tank
  7. 7
    Replacing the failed pump
  8. 8
Testing the system by unscrewing the auto vent and letting the washer discharge
  9. 9
Opening the pump for a cleaning to check for lint clogs

It was working okay until recently where it now cant seem to handle the discharge from the washer and will overflow. I'm not sure what to do and would appreciate any help.source ↗

Water frequently gets stuck in the lines, sometimes it's stuck before the pump, sometimes after. I have to play with the line to "knock the air loose" and suctions starts back up, only to get stuck again a few minutes later.source ↗

I've had to make do with this lil pump I found on Amazon. I've had it for about three years now and it was working fine until this summer now this has been a consistent issue.source ↗
