Why is my gray kitten turning orange?

Kittens can experience unexpected coat color changes, such as a gray tabby developing orange spots as they age. This leaves new owners worried and unsure if these sudden physical shifts are a normal part of growth or a sign of a health issue.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them β€” and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Waiting to see if the coat color changes further as the kitten grows
  2. 2
    Using prescribed medication like mometamax
  3. 3
Wiping the ears with a tissue
  4. 4
Cleaning the outside fur with warm water on a rag
  5. 5
Waiting for an appointment with a veterinary optometrist later in the week
  6. 6
Seeking a second opinion at an ER vet
