Is a 401k match worth it for a summer internship?

Contributing to an employer 401(k) still lets you save your own money tax-free, even if you leave the job before company matching funds vest. However, short-term and part-time workers often forfeit employer match dollars due to multi-year vesting schedules, leaving them confused about whether joining the plan is actually worth it.
