Engine rattling noise and sudden coolant leak while driving

A rattling or knocking noise under acceleration paired with a sudden coolant dump usually points to a severe cooling system failure or overheating issue. Continuing to drive risks catastrophic engine damage, which is why towing it immediately is the safest choice while checking for obvious hose breaks or water pump leaks.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
towing the vehicle to avoid further engine damage
  2. 2
inspecting drive belts, pulleys, and the water pump for failure
  3. 3
Cleaning the engine completely dry with brake cleaner to locate the leak
  4. 4
    Replacing the thermostat
  5. 5
checking specific components like the water pump or hoses
  6. 6
rinsing the motor and refilling coolant to retest for leaks

The noise started a little after I left my neighborhood to my family’s house 15 minutes down the road.source ↗

After parking you can see where it dumped the engine coolant all over the ground and drained the reservoir.source ↗

I’m planning on having it towed, but wanted to throw it in here to see if anyone has any ideas of what it may be or what I could check.source ↗
