How to loosen bathroom water lines in extremely tight spaces

The space behind toilets and underneath sinks is often too wedged in to fit standard wrenches or generate enough turning strength. Without clearance to physically turn a screwdriver or thread off the connections, you are left unable to disconnect the fixtures.
