Why won't my dishwasher or washing machine drain?
Standing water remains because the drain connection gets stuffed with paper, mold, or trash. Even after clearing visible clogs, checking the filter, and resetting the cycle, the water often refuses to empty. In washing machines, this failure also locks the door, forcing people to unplug the unit for several minutes just to rescue their wet clothes.
