Is my wood stove installation safe to use?

Tenant evaluation of a rental wood-burning stove often involves confusing structural modifications like strange concrete pieces around the flue and unusual flame colors during the first fire up. Because renters cannot easily verify whether these anomalies indicate dangerous venting blocks or normal operation, they are left guessing if it is safe to light a fire.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
    getting an annual stove inspection
  2. 2
    calling a professional
  3. 3
checking if the flame changes once the blower motor starts up
