Why does my door only close if I slam it?
Doors fail to close smoothly because the latch and strike plate are misaligned or the hinges have shifted. This forces people to push hard, lift, or slam the door just to get it to latch, which causes unnecessary noise and prevents it from shutting securely on its own.
