How close together should gutter hangers be?

Standard gutter installations often leave hangers too far apart—such as one every eight feet—causing the gutter to sag in multiple spots. Shrinking this spacing down significantly is necessary to secure the run properly, but beginners often lack the knowledge to know the exact correct installation method.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
    Adding more hangers
  2. 2
Trying to lift the gutters and hammer them in tighter

with my limited knowledge I would still want to shrink that down significantly.source ↗

Gutter is sagging in quite a few spots. Not bad but bad enough to need repair.source ↗
