Is a clear fluid leak from my car or heat pump dangerous?

Unexpected fluid leaks from equipment like heat pumps or car mufflers can be confusing to diagnose, leaving people unsure whether the liquid is harmless condensation or a hazardous substance like coolant. This uncertainty makes it difficult to know if the problem requires professional attention, or whether to call an HVAC technician, a plumber, or an automotive mechanic.

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

Hey yall my 2011 accord coupe 4 cylinder is leaking on the passenger side. I had an oil leak and used dye. This liquid is dropping over a pile with UV dye but it's dropping clear liquid. I fixed the actual oil leak and it was still neon so not sure what this could be? It only drips when the car is onsource ↗
