Where to find non-standard replacement trim?
Major home improvement retailers like Home Depot and Lowe's do not stock trim pieces with true, non-standard dimensions like a true 2-inch width and 1-inch depth. This leaves homeowners reluctant to remove rotted sections of weather-exposed trim for fear they will never find a matching replacement piece.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Take a short sample or photo with measurements to a local lumberyard or millwork shop to see if they can custom mill exterior-suitable stock to the required dimensions.
- 2Buying non-sport parts when specific trim options are unavailable
- 3Bringing the knuckle to a shop to have parts pressed

“A mechanic quoted me and I put that part number in and its showing me the kind with no sport suspension is the mechanic wrong or do I actually need the non sport suspension one?”source ↗
“Praying thats the case because rock auto only has those and even the auto parts stores only have the non sport suspension.”source ↗

“I need to replace a storm door ant the trim around it. The existing trim piece seems newer but its dimensions are a true 2 inches wide and true 1 inch deep. Not 3/4 x 1-1/2. I cannot find a piece of trim like this at Home Depot or Lowe’s.”source ↗
“I have been reluctant to remove a piece in case I cannot find a replacement. There is only about a 6 inch section that is rotted from weather exposure.”source ↗
