Loud noise from passenger dashboard when turning air to max
Debris, a failing bearing, or a cracked blower cage can cause a loud sound from the passenger side dashboard when the air is turned up. The noise is often so intense that drivers resort to turning up the radio just to drown it out.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Remove the cabin air filter to look or feel inside for leaves, sticks, or other debris.
- 2Use compressed or canned air to clear out debris.
- 3Replace the blower motor altogether if the bearing is going out.
- 4Removing the blower motor from under the glovebox to clean out debris.
- 5Turning up the car radio to drown out the noise.
