Where can an unvaccinated puppy safely go to the bathroom outside?

Unvaccinated puppies risk exposure to dangerous diseases like parvovirus from wildlife waste left in grass and yards. This fear prevents owners from letting their dogs eliminate outside safely before completing their vaccine schedule.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Using artificial grass inside the house
  2. 2
    Using the patio for elimination
  3. 3
Using puppy pads inside or right outside the door
  4. 4
Using artificial turf placed on patios or pavement
  5. 5
Consulting a local veterinarian for specific regional risk assessment
  6. 6
    Carrying the puppy by hand
  7. 7
Waiting until full vaccination is completed

Has anyone used a stroller to take your puppy out and about in the time period before they are fully vaccinated?source ↗

I would like to go sit in the park, visit stores, etc, but as a Lab puppy, she'll get heavy really soon.source ↗

Since the puppy will not have all his vaccines yet, is it safe to take him out there?source ↗

Foxes lay in the grass and poop. Even though I constantly hose everything down and keep the areas clean, I don't think that would prevent parvo.source ↗

I’m still unsure about where the puppy should go for a wee before he’s fully vaccinated.source ↗

I don’t want the puppy exposed to anything in the grass before he’s vaccinated.source ↗
