Why is my stainless steel dishwasher rusting on the front?
Water infiltration around the front panel and control edges causes premature rust and peeling on modern dishwashers, leaving owners dealing with stains on both the exterior and their dishes. Cleaning the existing rust requires removing these deposits before they can cause further damage to the appliance surface.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Applying sealants or protectants to exterior surfaces and edges
- 2Handwashing table knives instead of using the dishwasher
- 3Scrubbing rust with balled-up aluminum foil and water
- 4Sharpening cheap knives when needed or tossing them
