Can I relocate an unreachable engine ground cable?

Factory ground cables located on the back of the engine block are often impossible to reach by hand or with standard tools. Attempting to clean or replace them forces people to look for alternative mounting locations elsewhere on the block.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Connecting the ground wire to an alternative clean metal spot directly on the engine head instead of the factory location.
  2. 2
    Using long needle-nose pliers
  3. 3
Using specialized long-reach tools or hose clamp pliers
  4. 4
Using a ratchet wrench or an extension
