Why does engine oil streak up the dipstick?
Oil smears and streaks unevenly along the sides of the dipstick because it picks up residue from the guide tube when being pulled out. This creates conflicting readings on each side of the stick, making it impossible to tell if the vehicle has the correct amount of oil or is dangerously overfilled.
