How to remove a glass light fixture cover without screws

Many light covers have no visible screws or clips, making it difficult to figure out whether to pull an end cap or twist the glass. This uncertainty leaves people afraid to attempt removal alone for fear the heavy glass will come crashing down or break.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Pushing in from the sides assuming it is a pressure fit.
  2. 2
pulling straight down assuming it is held in place by spring wires or spring loaded clips

I really haven’t climbed up close to it to examine it. I can’t tell if you pull the end cap off or what. I’m definitely afraid to do it by myself and have it come crashing down.source ↗
