How to get melted candy and gummy residue out of clothes
Melted candy sticks completely to fabric fibers and cannot be scraped off once set. This leaves people wondering if they have to throw away ruined garments and bedding like sheets.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Rewashing clothes with regular detergent on a hot water cycle
- 2Soaking clothes before washing to dissolve remaining sugar
- 3put it in the freezer to freeze the gummy and break off excess
- 4soak in hot water and detergent to break down sugars before washing normally
- 5use dishwashing liquid soap on affected spots and scrub while wet
