Can a chipped washing machine drum be repaired?

Chipped washing machine drums can sometimes be repaired using an appliance touch-up paint or enamel kit if the damage is only cosmetic, but rust or structural leaks usually require replacing the drum. Leaving a chip unaddressed can cause clothes to snag and rust to bleed onto fabrics during washes.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Using epoxy to fill the hole
  2. 2
Using tape to cover the puncture

We came down stairs the other morning and found this when opening the freezer. No idea what caused it, maybe something frozen and heavy fell on it.source ↗

What is the best way to cover this so moisture doesn’t get in? If I tape it I’m worried the door won’t seal.source ↗

Since then, I’ve noticed a very small puddle of water underneath the machine after washing.source ↗

Would you replace the entire door seal because of this, or could such a tiny hole be repaired?source ↗
