Can I drive with a melted diagnostic port wire?
Accidentally short-circuiting the diagnostic port ground cable can melt the wire insulation and leave exposed copper. Whether it is safe to drive depends on how extensive the short was and what else the melted harness connects to, but driving with exposed or damaged wiring risks further electrical shorts before a replacement harness can be installed.
