Why does my car smell like gas when I accelerate?
A gasoline smell inside the cabin typically appears only under hard acceleration when higher engine RPMs increase fuel pressure or force vapor through a loose connection, cracked hose, or leaking seal in the engine bay. Because the ventilation system draws air directly from beneath the hood, cabin airflow pulls these raw vapors inside the vehicle the moment you step on the gas.
