Spark plug thread spinning in place
The brass insert or bolt spins along with the spark plug instead of unscrewing, or the thread breaks off and gets stuck inside. This prevents the plug from being removed or tightened, leaving the component completely jammed.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Replacing the entire component (such as the valve cover)
- 2Applying high-temperature epoxy to hold the fitting in place
- 3trying to remove it with a big screwdriver
- 4using a spark plug remover kit
- 5taking the vehicle to a shop
