How do I stop my kitten from climbing curtains?
Vinegar, citrus sprays, and commercial deterrents often fail to stop persistent kittens from scaling curtains. Without an alternative solution, owners are left desperate and unable to keep their homes curtainless due to large windows.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1trying deterrent sprays like vinegar, toothpaste, and citrus spray
- 2spraying the kitten with water
- 3tying the curtains up
- 4gently pushing the kitten in the face to direct them away
- 5providing alternative climbing items like cat trees
- 6Distracting the kitten with toys
- 7Switching to a less obsessive or more affordable food
- 8Standing back with a gap between yourself and the counter
- 9Stopping food preparation when the kitten gets aggressive and ignoring her
- 10Wearing thick socks and trousers to prevent scratches and bites
