How do I stop a cricket chirping inside my wall?

Crickets trapped behind baseboards or walls can chirp continuously for weeks, preventing sleep and concentration. Because they are hidden in inaccessible spots, standard tracking attempts fail and leave people desperate for a way to stop the noise without necessarily killing the bug.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
swiping objects underneath the baseboard gap
  2. 2
spraying lavender and peppermint essential oils
  3. 3
Waiting for them to die off when it gets cold outside

there’s been one singular cricket chirping in my room nonstop since I moved in a week ago.source ↗

I’ve tried tracking it down to see where the chirping is coming from, and it’s underneath the baseboards.source ↗

I don’t care about killing the thing I just want the chirping to stop😭 any recommendations would be appreciated, I can’t deal with this anymore.source ↗

I can also hear a cricket in the basement. I've found a few dead ones inside the basement as well, so I know they have some way of getting inside.source ↗
