Tenants sending ChatGPT repair requests and lease redlines

Tenants are using AI tools to generate long, formal maintenance complaints, argue move-out costs, and insert fake clauses into commercial leases. This forces property managers to spend hours arguing with automated text and unravelling incorrect legal citations instead of having real conversations.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Replying with simple canned responses like 'received, thank you.' or 'Please place repair request.'
  2. 2
Insisting tenants come into the office or use the official property management portal (TAPI) instead of email
  3. 3
Ignoring the filler or mumbo-jumbo and handling the underlying issue at normal efficiency
  4. 4
Politely and directly reiterating the issue without going down argument rabbit holes
  5. 5
Replying in a concise, cut-to-the-chase way to prevent tenants from feeding responses back into AI
  6. 6
Ignoring emails that do not deserve a response
  7. 7
Using ChatGPT to draft replies back
