Can you install metal roofing sheets upside down?

Installing metal roofing sheets upside down to show a different color is a bad idea because it compromises the integrity and performance of the roof. Doing so prevents proper water shedding and fastener sealing, which ultimately leads to leaks and premature material failure.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
mounting the panels correctly and painting the top side with Rust oleum

Since the sheets are all different colors, I'm wondering if I could flip the sheets over so the grey side faces up, to make the roof look slightly better.source ↗
