Water leaking from roof corners and sidewalls
Improper shingle overlapping and flashing near corners cause water to wick sideways or get trapped under the upper layers instead of flowing downward. This leads to chronic water intrusion and rotted roof decking during heavy rain.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Removing trim boards and shingles, repairing decking, and installing ice and water shield with proper step flashing.
- 2Inspecting the inside of the chimney/attic during heavy rain to check for leaks.
- 3cleaning out leaves and debris
- 4getting the gutter re-sloped
- 5checking the spot from above using a camera on a long stick or getting on a ladder
