Why can I hear everything through my apartment door?

Thin doors allow normal hallway sounds and conversations to pass straight through, eliminating privacy for both residents and neighbors. This lack of sound insulation makes it feel like private conversations are easily overheard by anyone walking past.

I can hear people in hallway and they can definitely hear me. Doesn’t feel private.source ↗

Every time I stay at a hotel, seems like I get a connecting room, and I can literally hear my neighbors full on conversation.source ↗
