How to find US companies hiring global independent contractors

Strict data regulations and system access restrictions often prevent US employers from retaining workers who relocate overseas. To avoid massive pay cuts in local markets, professionals must secure global independent contractor roles, but many struggle to pass the verbal interviews due to language barriers.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Applying through IT outsourcing and recruitment agencies
  2. 2
Practicing job interviews and tailoring resumes for foreign employers
  3. 3
Focusing on improving English speaking fluency
  4. 4
Offer to work onsite or hybrid in the US for a few weeks to build trust before transitioning remote.
  5. 5
Work for Indian consulting companies serving US clients or offshore teams.
  6. 6
Work US pacific timezone hours from India.

“That got me thinking , why not try working directly with a US-based company as a global independent contractor / or any other arrangement that works instead?”source ↗

“Has anyone here successfully done something similar? Or do you know US companies that are open to directly hiring overseas NetSuite contractors?”source ↗

“I’m genuinely just trying to figure out a way to make this move work without having to completely change the kind of work and environment I’ve enjoyed in the US.”source ↗

“With my current company, I actually did try bringing this up once. Unfortunately, they weren’t really open to having my role based outside the US. Ours is very regulated environment and they’ve some restrictions on overseas access to systems and sensitive information, so I don’t think that’s going to work out here.”source ↗
