Do flush-mount air vents restrict airflow?

Decorative flush-mount vents feature restrictive slot openings that are not large enough to move the same amount of air as a regular vent. This design causes you to lose airflow performance compared to using a standard louvered grille.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

Using standard louvered grilles instead of flush-mount vents when high air volume is required.

The slot opening is restrictive, so youre definitely losing some airflow compared to a standard louvered grille.source ↗
