Should I replace or reattach a loose car door seal?

Car door rubber seals often detach when the adhesive fails, leaving the insulation coming off the door. Drivers are left unsure of the best adhesive to use for reattachment, or if the loose seals are causing other vehicle issues and need to be completely replaced.
