Said It Here

Why is my new team so cold and ignoring me?

New workplaces often feature cold teams that leave newcomers isolated, uncommunicative, and without meaningful work to do. This silence frequently masks active exclusion, like being left out of team meetings, or hostility, such as coworkers gossiping and going silent when you enter the room.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Treating the position purely as a paycheck by keeping your head down, doing minimal work, and going home
  2. 2
Using downtime on the clock to read books or take online courses
  3. 3
Keeping your resume updated while enjoying the easy paycheck
  4. 4
eating lunch alone in a separate room to avoid the gossip and hostility
  5. 5
directly confronting coworkers when catching them gossiping
