Why does my lawn pull up like a mat?
Grass that pulls away from the dirt with shallow roots indicates a severe thatch buildup or root rot that prevents grass from anchoring into the soil. This stops the lawn from absorbing water and nutrients properly, creating expanding dead spots when mown low or during seasonal stress.
