How to stop tree seeds from sprouting all over the lawn

Tree seeds left behind after removing a tree can drop massive amounts of growth that quickly overtake the grass. People spend hours manually picking them out of the ground only for them to keep appearing, making it hard to stop them from taking over the yard.
