Do I really need a business plan for a bank loan?

Almost every lender and broker website claims you need a full written business plan, even though SBA rules usually only require financial projections. This conflicting information leaves applicants struggling to figure out what actually matters in a loan file versus what is just extra paperwork.

“I am thinking about starting a business and have thought the vast majority of it out and want to start writing it all down in a formal plan so I can take it to a bank and apply for a loan. What are some good formatting tips or guidelines I should go by? Does anyone know of any good examples? I know exactly nothing about this and am trying to learn”source ↗

“Do you know of it's an option to have a co-signer on a business loan? I say this because my "score" is pretty good but it's only based on a single credit card that I've only had for a couple of years.”source ↗
