Why is my dog shedding worse after professional grooming?

Professional deshedding treatments sometimes fail to remove all the loose undercoat, leaving trapped fur that continues to come out in large clumps during normal petting and brushing. This leaves owners dealing with just as much fur around the house despite having paid for a professional service.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Buying a forced air or high velocity dryer to do deshedding treatments at home
  2. 2
Brushing the dog every day outside
  3. 3
Switching between pricey and affordable groomers or buying a deshedding comb to use at home

I have a lab mix, and it is still fairly easy for me to brush out decent clumps of hair.source ↗

Idk how bad it was, but there was one place I took her to where she was basically a whole other dog worth of fur still on her, coming out in clumps as I pet her or brushed her.source ↗
