Why do aftermarket motor mounts vibrate so much?
Cheaper aftermarket motor mounts and unswapped dampers cause severe engine shaking, heavy vibrations, and loud cabin noise immediately after installation.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1installing cheaper aftermarket motor mounts to save money
- 2Swapping the original torsional damper back onto the engine
- 3Replacing worn motor mounts
- 4Checking for oil or hot spots on the clutches

“I'm doing an engine swap for my 2013 Prius and upon pulling the old one out I had the first damper shown with the orange on it, but this JDM engine had this damper. I figured i didn't need to swap em and put it in and now the engine is shaking hard, was I supposed to swap these?”source ↗
