Feeling completely lost and bored after selling my business

Selling a business built over years causes a drastic, disorienting lifestyle change that leaves entrepreneurs suddenly alone at home with nothing to do. Without the constant hard work and clear direction they are used to, they struggle with a complete loss of routine and purpose, not knowing what passion or project to pursue next.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

Taking time off to spend with family and children

Volunteering locally or mentoring young entrepreneurs
  3. 3
Engaging in home projects, gardening, fitness, or sports
  4. 4
Using AI prompts to brainstorm new activities and hobbies

What do we do next? I’m feeling kinda lost. I can’t really think of a passion I want to pursue. It’s a really weird place to be after working so hard for the past 10 years.source ↗

It’s just a weird spot for us. We don’t come from money and have worked hard our whole life. So to go from that to this drastic change is odd. Not used to being bored lolsource ↗

I went through this. Two months after the sale, I was alone at home every day with nothing to do and nowhere to go. One morning, I found myself in my robe at 10 am, unshaven asking myself “it’s too early for whiskey, but is it too early for wine?”source ↗
