How do you enable record updates in Agentforce and check credit costs?
Agentforce does not allow record updates out of the box, requiring manual configuration of instructions and permissions. Users trying to set this up cannot easily find clear details on whether action-based features consume flex credits.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Reviewing documentation and contacting account executives (AE) and sales engineers (SE) for clarity
- 2Building separate employee agents to execute record actions and invoking them through the AI tool
- 3Using external AI models like Claude to help draft or refine Agentforce script and instructions.
- 4Developing directly on base models like Claude instead of using the intermediary platform layer.

“My question is how do we turn it on and if we turn it on does updating records consume any flex credits or is it cost per action?”source ↗
