Why are there bald spots in my grass?

Yard patches can be caused by multiple competing factors like compaction, lack of water, fungal situations, or grubs, making it difficult to figure out the underlying cause without knowing which one is responsible.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
    Core aerating every other year
  2. 2
putting the cat on an anti fungal cream just in case
  3. 3
inspecting the cat for wounds or changes in behavior

“Just spots where the ground is basically lacking any (green) grass. Trying to understand if this is due to compaction (I have my hard core aerated every other year), lack of water, some sort of fungal situation or grubs?”source ↗
