Will sod and seed grass ever blend together?
Different cultivars or the mix of sod and seed can cause noticeable color differences in a lawn. Whether these patches will eventually even out or blend together as they mature across seasons remains uncertain, leading many to consider throwing down extra seed out of impatience.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Applying more iron fertilizer to the paler side
- 2Waiting for maturity and environmental adjustments over time
- 3throwing down more seed immediately because of impatience
- 4waiting for the lawn to naturally fill in over time or through winter
- 5checking average first frost dates before deciding to add more seed
