How to get a large sofa through a narrow hallway

Large sofas frequently get stuck in narrow hallways and doorways because standard turning angles and limited space prevent them from passing through. This leaves people trying every possible angle or considering taking the couch apart to avoid losing money on furniture that won't fit into their rooms.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Try moving the sofa vertically, horizontally, or diagonally
  2. 2
Open the dust cover on the bottom of the couch to see if the back is bolted on and can be unbolted
  3. 3
Try maneuvering the sofa into an adjacent room first to get a better angle across the hall
  4. 4
Trying an alternative entrance with a wider approach angle
  5. 5
Removing packaging materials to reduce overall dimensions
