Why do students always give bad music recommendations?

Most student song suggestions fail to match their teachers' tastes because educators often have niche or particular preferences. This mismatch leads to most recommendations being skipped or ignored, preventing teachers from finding new music through their students despite occasional successes.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Building personal playlists of requests independently rather than relying on direct student recommendations
  2. 2
Sharing one's own music tastes to find common ground
  3. 3
Embracing the cliché songs and ignoring self-consciousness
  4. 4
Using remixes and mashups by DJs to make classics feel fresh
  5. 5
Creating a strict do-not-play list for songs that are truly unbearable

I'm sure many of them have been good to someone, but I haven't liked any of them. I'm pretty odd and picky with what art I enjoy.source ↗

Speaking as someone who loves alt rock/indie rock/hip hop if my wedding was just going to be me out there I’d be playing it all but I know the majority of people attending don’t like that stuff so it’s time to embrace the cringe.source ↗
