Can you install LVP flooring room by room?

Installing luxury vinyl plank flooring room by room requires using transitions instead of a seamless layout across the entire space. Working one room at a time allows beginners to work at their own pace and keep the layout square.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
installing flooring room by room using transition strips
  2. 2
working at an individual pace and keeping sections square
  3. 3
Consulting manufacturer and trade association websites like NWFA
  4. 4
Relying on step-by-step guides and online calculators
  5. 5
Pulling out the second to last board to slide the piece under the jamb
  6. 6
    Removing baseboards and door casing
  7. 7
Overcutting the drywall to slip the piece underneath
  8. 8
3D printing spacers instead of buying them

“I know ideally it would look better to do all LVP sections seamlessly but I’d like to do 1 bedroom at a time and work at my own pace as well as keep everything square since I’m new to LVP.”source ↗
