Why does a new light fixture keep tripping the GFCI?
Wiring a new light fixture immediately causes the GFCI outlet to trip, even when the circuit or pump worked fine beforehand. This prevents the circuit from staying powered on and stops the connected equipment from running.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Testing the outlet with a different device to isolate whether the fault is in the appliance or the circuit.

“This morning the pump wasn't running and the GFCI is tripped. I turned off the switch on the pump, unplugged it, reset the GFCI and it tripped again when I plugged the pump back in.”source ↗
