Staring at a hidden flooring mistake I can't unsee

Finding out a flooring installation went wrong after it is too late leaves people staring at a bad stagger or rocking planks from their couch for a year. This makes them live with the daily frustration of a visible error they cannot easily fix.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
    ignoring the mistake
  2. 2
laughing it off as an inside joke
  3. 3
leaving it uncorrected since it is functionally fine and out of sight
  4. 4
checking floor levelness with a spirit level to measure gaps
