How to find engine sensors like the MAP and VVT
Locating specific components like the MAP sensor or 2018 Camry VVT sensors can be difficult under a crowded hood. This struggle prevents car owners from successfully diagnosing engine fault codes and addressing vehicle problems on their own. Knowing the exact position of these sensors is required to move forward with repairs.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1searching online for reference pictures of what the sensor looks like
- 2tracing components sequentially along the intake manifold
- 3Using a Toyota Camry repair manual to locate the oil control valves on the engine
