How do I take over home tech and cameras when my partner is gone?

Without a network map or documentation left behind, families are left terrified to unplug anything for fear of breaking the entire setup or losing precious security footage. This lack of knowledge makes routine maintenance or moving impossible without breaking down in frustration or having to scrap the equipment entirely.
